Black History Month Event

The Chapter celebrated Black History Month with a spectacular panel of African American male Alzheimer’s caregivers at the Schomberg Library in Harlem on February 6, 2013.
Board members Jim Haddon and Sean Reed welcomed everyone and introduced Dr. Jeff Gardere, author, psychologist, TV personality and the Master of Ceremonies for the evening.

The program began with an exceptional short film called Barbasol by panelist Ralph Scott. Barbasol captures the final years of one of the first African American FBI agents diagnosed with dementia and the emotional web that entangled him and his son. When the lights went up, there wasn’t a dry eye in the audience.

Following the film, Dr. Gardere posed thought-provoking questions to panel members Keith Amparado, Stewart Brebnor, Dr. Georges Casimir and Ralph Scott.
